Life Q's - Week #5

What color brings you joy?

Life Q's - Week #5 - What color brings you joy?

What color brings you joy?
For me it's the color of new leaf green. Green is all about rebirth, renewal and balance and it's the color at the center of the rainbow!!!
For this page I truly kept it green by creating my background with junk from my purse. I then covered it with gesso and used a part of a paper doily as a stencil to create some depth to the background. I glimmer misted my flowers and created a unique flower using a paper clip and some beads and adhered them with Glossy Accents. I also made another flower out of buttons. I added a butterfly and some bling and out a 'joy' rub on over the paper vase.

Life Q's Week # 4

The question this week is 'What are you truly grateful for? Please give what you can to:

Life Q #4 - What are you truly grateful for?

What are you truly grateful for?
In light of what has happened of late to the poor people of Haiti I thought it would be a good time for us all to reflect on what we are truly grateful for. My journaling reads " I am very grateful for my health and my life' My health has taken a turn for the good lately and I am so very grateful for that. On the angel wing I wrote "Bless the Haitian people"
I used gesso to cover up all of the background of the Christmas card except the little girl's face. I then washed the background with 2 shades of transparent acrylic paint. I stamped thank you's on the background and then added gold and iridescent mica flakes. The printed paper on her body is taken from a page in a Frend dictionary that has the word 'priere' (prayer on it. I finished it off with Blue Azure reinker from Stampin' Up
Please give all that you can to Hope For Haiti Now.

Life Q's - Week #3

This week the question is "What in on your plate?

Life Q's - Week #3

This past week I've had way too much on my plate so I thought that this would be a great question for us all to reflect upon. For my page I started by creating a background with a blue acrylic paint wash, and then I took an empty chipboard button package and used it as a circle template. I then used white acrylic paint and a foam stamp and stamped the edges of my 'plate'.
The servings on my plate were created from 3 card stock circles that I embellished and then attached with a single brad and they they are family, things I love and a space just for quiet reflection.
I feel so much more balanced after completing this activity but my craft space is a mess!

Life Q #2 - Describe yourself in three 'positive' words.

Life Q #2 - Describe yourself in three 'positive' words
For this prompt I used gesso again to cover the card and while it was wet I made swirls the back of a paintbrush. I covered the chipboard #3 with crackle paint and then I then used transparent acrylic paint. I used strips of printed papers, a frame and some Adirondack Espresso spray ink. I used a tree stamp from Stampin' Up with some black Staz On ink.
I typed my three words on the computer and they are Resilient ( yet still I rise despite chronic pain and every health issue that falls into my path...and I'm winning!)
Comforting ( I love to nurture...which is why I LOVE spending time with my grandchildren, and I LOVE to nurture my doula clients, but I must admit I am learning more and more to nurture myself.)
Wise-( I believe that with all my life experiences, both the ups and the downs, I've earned the right to be called 'wise.')

Life Q #1 - What little things are you going to enjoy more in the new year?

Life Q #1 - What little things are you going to enjoy more in the new year?
I started with a quote on a strip of paper which i adhered to the card as well as a polka doted blue piece of printed paper. I made a paper flower, painted it with mod podge and added a flower brad for the center. I add a photd and journaling that reads:
This year I'm going to make a special effort to stay in the moment and try to live each of those moments to the fullest. Enjoy the sunshine, the snow and the rain, the ups and downs, the laughter and tears.

Life Q's - The Cover

For the cover I started by painting the card with gesso. I then added layers of acrylic paint and some stamping with black Staz On ink. I use some spiced Marmalade Ranger distress ink as well. I then covered a chipboard heart with printed paper and sprayed with suede glimmer mist. I attached a chipboard 'Q' and the life and s are thickers. The heart lays atop an orange flower. I used Glossy Accents to adhere it to the cover.

Scrapbooking at Monica's Place - Introducing Life Q's - Art Journaling - Week#1- Part One

Please join me on this amazing weekly art journal adventure. In this episode we will create our messy journal out of recycled Christmas cards!!!

Life Q's and cues!

I would like to invite you to join me on a 52 week art journal adventure. This is the first time I've led in the prompts as I've followed the amazing Emily Falconbridge for two years now but I thought the time has come for me to give this a try.
Each week I will give you a question for you to answer via this blog and videos. You are to answer in the form of art journaling.
The art journal I created was by recycling all of my Christmas cards and binding them into a book. The cards are made of such amazing heavy card stock so it works great for this type of artwork.

My wish is that by the end of the year, by answering the Q's, we will all know our selves just that much better. Please play along and share your creations by leaving a link to your blog in the comments section.

A Lovely Way to Start 2010

We had a great, relaxing new year's eve full of great tunes like ''Wheels on the Bus''and ''B-I-N-G-O"!
We enjoyed amazing appetizers coourtesy of my son and dined on Chinese Food from Asian Connection.
After ringing in the New Year with my husband, all 3 grandsons, my son and daughter in law we all hit the hay. Most of the gang left just around 10 this morning so my oldest grandson and I decided to make a magical castle for his new king, complete with secret key and window, and was it ever a fun way to start out the new year! Happy New Year everyone and here's to lots more magical moments!
